Abstract: This article examines the theoretical aspects of digital structural shift research in the economy, demonstrating its levels, content, and underlying assumptions. A classification of the principles and factors of digital structural shift is presented. The authors substantiate the research's expansion beyond the analysis of technological modernization in individual sectors and industries of the economy under the influence of digital technology diffusion and consider digital structural shift within a complex of technological, economic, and social transformations. The aim of this study is to define the theoretical foundations for studying digital structural shift – the principles, factors, and limitations of their operation. The article substantiates that the identified factors and limitations of digital structural shift – a socioeconomic transformation driven by a combination of technological breakthroughs, market competition, and institutional changes – create new opportunities for achieving a trajectory of sustainable, accelerating growth.
