Abstract: It is now becoming increasingly important for most companies to adhere to ESG principles (Environmental, Social, Governance). In the fuel and energy complex (FEC) this is also one of the main areas of development. The relevance of the study of the application of ESG principles in the fuel and energy complex is due to the low degree of theoretical and practical developments in the field of integration of environmental, social and governance factors in the processes of assessing the functioning of fuel and energy complex facilities. Decision-making in relation to the fuel and energy sector requires a periodic assessment of the external and internal situation and the relationships that have developed in the system. For such an assessment, the PESTEL analysis methodology can be effectively used, which allows you to consider the most important aspects in the context of using ESG indicators to solve the problems of the fuel and energy complex, identify existing risks in advance and develop a strategy for the sustainable development of the industry. In this work, using PESTEL analysis, the main ESG factors influencing the development of the fuel and energy complex are identified, the significance of each of them is studied and its impact is assessed. The factors that have the greatest impact on the fuel and energy complex are identified. Based on the results obtained, a conclusion was made about the share of the main factors influencing the application of ESG principles to assess the functioning of the fuel and energy complex.
