Abstract: The article examines the state and features of changes occurring in the higher education market in the Russian Federation. Education has been one of the main productive spheres in the economy of all countries of the world for many years, which causes keen interest in this topic. In modern conditions, socio-economic and political changes occur that affect the entire sphere of education. That is why the authors of the work set a goal to determine the directions of development of the education sector in modern conditions to identify the prospects and trends of its development. The article examines the dynamics that allow identifying a number of trends characteristic of modern transformations occurring in the education market, and development vectors were formulated. It is determined that the prestige of secondary vocational education is increasing, which negatively affects the higher education market, the need to take into account Russian specifics, the use of EE and DOT as a supplement to traditional forms of training, and the growing interest of applicants in areas of socio-cultural focus are revealed. The topic under consideration will be of interest to employees and specialists in the economy of education of educational organizations of higher education, students.
