Abstract: The main objective of the article is to highlight the ways to improve the business environment of the Republic of Armenia and substantiate the role of the latter in the context of developing small and medium businesses. The article examines the current state of the business environment of the Republic of Armenia, identifies existing problems and opportunities for overcoming them. To assess the business environment of the Republic of Armenia, the macroeconomic environment of the country was considered and the economic situation in which businesses operate was identified. A comparative analysis of the main indicators of the business sector of the Republic of Armenia was conducted and substantiated conclusions were given. In the business sector of the Republic of Armenia, the most important problem is considered to be financing enterprises, especially small and medium businesses. The problems of supporting small and medium entrepreneurship in the Republic of Armenia were considered and specific ways of their development were proposed. Speaking about the current state of the business environment in the Republic of Armenia, the existing shortcomings and opportunities to overcome them were emphasized. In the work, changes in the tax and investment systems were considered as a basis for improving the business environment, expenses on the small and medium business sector and support programs as necessary investments. Protection of economic competition was considered as a necessary tool for healthy competition, business development and progress.
