Abstract: This article was written as part of a study of the theoretical aspects of the socio-economic development of the national economy. Today, the situation in the global economy indicates an impending change in the concept of development, due to the growing tension of the geopolitical situation. The world community is in the process of realizing the impossibility of further economic growth and development without significant transformations caused by the brewing cyclical and structural crises of the world economy, the consequences of which will affect the national economies of most countries. In this context, the question of the prerequisites for changing the paradigm of socio-economic development of the national economy seems relevant. The purpose of the article is to identify a number of prerequisites for changing the paradigm of socio-economic development of the national economy in the process of analyzing crisis periods of the economy of the Russian Federation and comparing problem areas of socio-economic development. In the course of the study, the essence of the paradigm of socio-economic development was determined, positive and negative aspects of the process of globalization of the world economy were identified, the stages of development of the economy of the Russia were considered and the prerequisites for a change in the paradigm of socio-economic development of the national economy were identified. A number of problem areas in global trends in socio-economic development are identified.
