Abstract: The article analyzes the conformity of the neoclassical model “economic man” with the economic theory of the knowledge economy. The subject of the study is the adequacy of the neoclassical model “economic man” of the economic theory of the knowledge economy. The goal is to identify the lines of argumentation of the discrepancy between the neoclassical model “economic man” of the economic theory of the knowledge economy and the choice of a promising direction for putting into practice the search for a human model adequate to this theory. Methodology: 1) the starting point is the distinction between the theoretical construct “model of a person in the economy” and the type or image of a person in the economy; 2) based on the anthropological principle and approach to economics within the framework of a historical anthropological (interdisciplinary) research program. Results: 1) four lines of argumentation of the inconsistency of the neoclassical model “economic man” of the economic theory of the knowledge economy were identified: anthropic, social, natural, historical; 2) the anthroposocial direction of the search for a model of “human”, relevant to the economic theory of the knowledge economy, was chosen; 3) a hypothesis is formulated: the anthroposocial approach in the economic theory of the knowledge economy brings together the ideal and reality, making the future its subject. The scope of the results is the development of the economic theory of the knowledge economy. Conclusions: 1) the knowledge economy requires a new type of person capable of creating a new economy; 2) it is necessary to develop a model of a person that corresponds to the economic theory of the knowledge economy.
