Abstract: The article offers for discussion the results of testing the author's methodology for assessing the development of socio-economic systems in the context of globaliza-tion. The study considers globalization as a permanent process, which finds its manifestations in economic, geopolitical, technological, social and other spheres. A set of indicators of socio-economic systems of several countries, including Russian Federation was analyzed. Based on the results of the analysis, a classification of countries was formed, highlighting groups of countries – “leaders-initiators” of globalization, “participating” countries; the place of the Russian Federation in the system of globalization processes and the trend of its change was shown. In general, the methodology proposed in the article for assessing the development of a socio-economic system taking into account globalization allows us to take into account a large set of factors that determine the globalization of individual spheres (geopolitical, economic, technological, social, humanitarian, environmental). This is intended to significantly increase the reliability of the results of forecasting trends in the development of socio-economic systems in the context of globalization, based on the proposed methodology
