Abstract: The search for effective forms, principles and factors for the implementation of progressive structural changes in the Russian economy requires the development of their theoretical foundations, the adaptation of existing scientific provisions to new challenges, such as sanctions pressure, the need to achieve technological sovereignty and rely on their own investment resources. In turn, the importance of analyzing changes in the structure of the economy through the prism of the repro-duction of human capital and its qualitative changes is dictated by the growing knowledge intensity and innovativeness of modern industry, the transition to a convergent technological order. The hypothesis of the study is that without accel-erating the reproduction of human capital and rethinking its role in the system of factors of structural transformation of the economy, it is impossible to overcome the degradation nature of the latter and move on to progressive structural changes based on specific principles. In accordance with this, the article considers the principles, factors and types of structural transformation of the economy.
