Abstract: The development of Russian economy in the context of increased technological sanctions, restrictions on the import of high-tech equipment, primarily for mining sector, actualizes research related to the involvement of advanced foresights in the modernization of the mineral resource segment. In this regard, the National Technology Initiative deserves special attention, initially aimed at the so-called. “markets of the future” emerging in the digital economy. The spread of forms of interaction between universities and research institutes, business firms and the government, generated within the framework of the National Technology Initiative, to the extractive sector of the Russian economy, was the subject of the study. The research hypothesis is that the diffusion of technologies that receive market forms of commercialization during the implementation of the National Technology Initiative in the extractive sector under conditions of its dominance in the economy can have a significant impact on long-term stabilization and acceleration of economic growth. The article considers the problems of the National Technology Initiative deployment e, shows its place in the innovative development of the extractive sector, proposes an economic and technological map of the activation of this process, and gives recommendations for convergent technological modernization of Russian extractive sector.
