Abstract: The preparation of serious original scientific works – monographs – today has become an elite activity for economists claiming to solve problems of the national economic level. The development of food production in territories with a high con-centration of basic industries, fully complying with the imperatives of the Doctrine of Food Security of the Russian Federation, can rightfully be attributed to such issues. A fundamental study of this problem is presented in the monograph "Development of the agro-industrial complex of industrial regions " (authors E. M. Lubkova and S. A. Shelkovnikov), which brings the analysis of the economic potential of the Siberian macro-region to a new level, considering its productive strength from a new angle. Objective differences in the functioning of the agro-industrial complex in industrial and agricultural regions require taking into account their specifics in the strategic planning of the development of territories in which the points of growth of agricultural production and its processing are set by the involvement of enterprises in the basic sectors of the economy in this process. Considering these issues, the authors attempt to solve the important problem of combining the potential for food demand in industrial regions and their investment opportunities within a single consistent concept. Its implementation in practice will ensure the competitiveness of the agro-industrial complex in industrial clusters, increase the level of their diversification and export potential.
