Abstract: The article summarizes the scientific and methodological foundations of strategic planning of socio-economic development at the regional level. Strategic planning is an important method of managing the development of the territory in the face of dynamic changes in the external and internal environment. The problems of strategic planning of regional development in Ukraine in the context of decentralization of power and public administration reform are now becoming urgent. While critical and difficult to implement, this reform requires the improvement and development of strategic planning methodologies and tools at both the national and local levels. The process of developing a strategic plan for the socio-economic development of the region is being analysed. The factors influencing the strategy development process are considered.
