Abstract: In today's high-tech global economy, the need for a competent and highly skilled workforce is becoming the focus of research for scientists, practitioners and en-trepreneurs. Many businesses are looking for innovative ways to improve efficiency and maintain a competitive edge in order to survive. The development of pro-fessional competencies is most often associated with the processes of implemen-tation, assessment and promotion of human capital. The formation of such com-petencies requires consistent actions to improve certain knowledge, skills and abilities. An analysis of the professional competencies of workers in the mining sector of the economy opens up a number of opportunities for improving the effi-ciency of personnel management. The purpose of this article is to show the main opportunities for the development of professional competencies of employees to ensure the development of human capital in the mining sector, to analyze the predisposition of young specialists to work in this area. Achievement of high pro-duction and economic results in business entities in the mining sector is possible only through the development of an effective personnel management system. In the context of a systematic approach, it is of paramount importance to study the factors of personnel management that have a positive effect on the economic situation of companies. Building a model of personnel management factors makes it possible to determine and implement the most effective management approaches and mechanisms. This creates opportunities for improved personnel management, which has a positive impact on the development of mining companies.
