Abstract: Recently, significant foreign and domestic investments have been attracted to the mining industry in Bulgaria. A number of companies are already applying the world's best practices in the exploration, production and processing of underground resources. Currently, over 300 companies and organizations operate in the mining industry in Bulgaria in the field of exploration, extraction and processing of underground resources, and related activities and services. The sophistication of technology, globalization and the extension of the active working age in recent decades require constant adaptation of the personal skills and professional abilities of workers. This is due to a number of changes and challenges in professional development. They enable a person to successfully find a job, adapt and develop in the workplace, cope with professional tasks, feel satisfaction and receive adequate remuneration for their work. Building a competency model for the selection of human resources requires targeted actions to improve certain skills and abilities.
