Abstract: In the study of the female population, an important role is played by the study of the economic activity of women. Including their industry structure and professional composition. The ratio of the proportion of self-employed and non-self-employed women demonstrates the degree of participation of women in social production and shows how many women had an independent source of livelihood. This article presents the results of a study of the economic activity of the female population, as well as their sectoral and professional composition. The territorial scope of the study covers Western Siberia within the boundaries of the modern Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Omsk regions, Altai Territory and the Altai Republic. The work used materials from the All-Union Population Censuses of 1937 and 1939, as well as other statistical and archival sources of the 1930s.
