Abstract: The institutionalization of the economic component of the raw material policy is to ensure the effective use of the national raw material base, taking into account industrial, energy, environmental policies, macro- and meso-economic planning and forecasting. The raw materials sector of the Slovak economy is experiencing a breakthrough due to the growing demand for mineral resources from the manu-facturing industry. The presented article analyzes the raw material policy in the Republic of Slovakia from an institutional point of view, systematically integrating individual elements – relations with suppliers and consumers of mineral raw mate-rials, legislative, property, socio-political and other ties within the primary sector of the economy. The article also presents a model of a new raw material policy, which comprehensively and objectively covers the conditions, goals, indicators and tools for achieving the goals of sustainable development and economic regulation of raw materials policy in the Republic of Slovakia. This model is designed to ensure the sustainability of the development of the country's mining industries in the face of unstable prices for mineral resources.
