Abstract: The relevance of the problem of professional development of enterprise personnel is proved. Statistical data are presented to assess the level of professional devel-opment of personnel in developed countries. The main trends and problems of professional development of employees of domestic enterprises are investigated: the lack of sufficient funds for organizing and implementing professional training of personnel; the economic benefits of hiring highly qualified employees from outside; the risk of losing money for professional training of personnel due to "turnover" of personnel; lack of employees ' interest in professional development; lack of opportunities to achieve the expected productivity from trained employees. Problems of professional development of personnel are caused primarily by underestimating the importance of personnel and the level of professionalism in the sustainable and economic development of domestic enterprises.
