Abstract: The effective use of indirect tools for regulating the economy, the implementation of the countercyclical function of state economic policy, taking into account the transitive features of Russian economic reality – all this requires the transformation of credit relations into an instrument to achieve sustainable balanced economic growth in exchange for the conservation of transitional problems. The development of economic practice in this direction is impossible without a methodology for studying the objective basis of credit relations and researching the theoretical issues of their transformation in the process of developing the reproductive system of the country's economy, modifying the processes of capital formation, accumulation and consumption. In this regard, it is important to analyze approaches to the study of economic relations in the credit system, highlight the general and the special in them, and correlate them with the specifics of Russian reforms. In order to solve this scientific problem, the article considers approaches to determining the nature of credit relations proposed by various economic schools and draws conclusions regarding their applicability in the conditions of Russian market reforms.
