Abstract: Managing the organization development in modern Russian economy is an urgent problem, as the market economy is experiencing a period of its formation and issues related to the effectiveness of management are becoming topical, exacerbating the interest of researchers and practitioners in determining the concepts and ap-proaches that contribute to the development of these processes. The article pre-sents the position according to which the nature, essence and content of economic management in relation to the organization are largely determined by the choice of the scientific concept and, accordingly, approaches within the framework of this or that idea. Within the framework of this view, the idea of necessity to apply manage-ment technologies that are adequate to the social and economic environment de-veloped in the transitive conditions of Russian society is substantiated. It is empha-sized that in unpredictable and dynamic conditions, flexible, adaptive management technologies are required; therefore an adaptive management approach must be the subject of active research.
