Abstract: At the present stage of the development of management all over the world great attention is paid to issues of leadership and personal growth. The rapid pace of technological development requires new flexible approaches to management science. A positive role in this process is played by the quality management system, which postulates the need to demonstrate leadership of the organization top management. The requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2015 are due to the need to provide high quality goods and services in order to increase the competitiveness of the company. The existing experience confirms that leadership qualities and the level of development of managers’ personality directly affect the «ecosystem of the enterprise» (J. Moore). The highest official plays a key role in the performance of the enterprise. The higher the level of development of a leader, the higher his leadership potential, the greater chances of his company to succeed. In order to improve the efficiency of the organization various methods that contribute to the personal development of employees on the basis of the system «generative learning» and «organizational knowledge» are widely used in practice. Among the approaches that form the high potential of employees, the leading roles are played by: corporate training, professional retraining, mentoring, personnel reserve, etc. A good example of an organization implementing the approaches mentioned above is Kuzbass State Technical University. Targeted quality training of personnel contributes to the competitiveness of the university and its sustainable development.
