Abstract: The article is devoted to the structure of demand making for silver in the world and Russian precious metals markets. The relevance of this study is due to the high level of demand for precious metals, particularly silver. The authors carried out a detailed analysis of the demand for silver, which data served as the basis for determining the structure of its formation. As a result of the research, the main areas of silver application in the world and on the territory of the Russian Federation were identified. The information from the World Silver Survey 2016 and the World Silver Survey 2017 was used as the basis for the study. Practical importance of the classification of various types of demand for precious metals proposed by the authors allows systematizing the data received annually as well as to solve the problems associated with the development of some industrial branches where silver is used. The direction of future researches is a deeper analysis of silver availability and attractiveness, not only as a precious metal, but also as one of the main components of other industries, in particular, special attention should be paid to the development of new technologies and the use of silver particles in them.
