Abstract: The current situation on the global market and changes in the political structure of the Kemerovo region actualize the problem of regional economic security. In this paper, an assessment of the region's economic security in terms of key indicators was made. They include: gross regional product per capita; volume of industrial production per capita; agricultural production per capita; share of processing industries in the volume of shipped goods of local production and services; share of machine building in the volume of shipped goods of local production and services; degree of depreciation of fixed assets; turnover of retail trade per capita; the volume of paid services per capita; the volume of innovative goods, works, services as a percentage of the total volume of goods shipped, works performed; consumer price index; energy capacity of the gross regional product; power consumption. The conducted evaluation showed a low level of economic security of the Kemerovo region for most of the analyzed parameters. The critical values of the indicators make it necessary to introduce stringent measures to reduce threats to economic security in the Kemerovo region. The ongoing restructuring of regional institutional system should be one of the first steps of the crisis management in the region. The new management strategy should focus on the systemic and strategic nature of ensuring the economic security of the Kemerovo region.
