Abstract: The transition to the sustainable development created new challenges to the system of higher training of mining engineers, stipulated by the acceleration of scientific and technological progress and the widespread introduction of innovations, the conver-gence of technologies from various industries. On the one hand, globalization, the rapid pace of technology development, are constantly increasing demands for the quality of labor resources in the mineral and raw materials complex and constant growth of the professional skills. On the other hand, the transition to the sustainable development stipulates the need for rational use of raw materials and environmental protection. This requires improving the system of personnel training for mining oper-ations and the interaction of enterprises with universities that train mining engineers aimed at developing future miners' innovative competencies. These problems became the subject of discussions during the I and II Innovative Mining Symposiums held in 2017 in T.F. Gorbachev Kuzbass State Technical University. As a result, the concept of interaction between the university and stakeholders was developed. It is directed for training innovative competencies of students at the stage of university training and involving stakeholders in this process.
