Abstract: The article is devoted to the most important problem of the higher school - adapta-tion of foreign students to educational activity and a new social environment. The relevance of a research is caused by the general context of development of the interstate relations, involvement of foreign students in higher education universities and a number of the contradictions inherent in adaptive process of foreigners – discrepancies between requirements imposed by conditions of the new environment and individual's readiness for them on the basis of the available experience. The paper presents the outcomes of an empirical study of the adaptation of foreign students in Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University, Turkey. 50 students of 1-3 courses from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Syria, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Africa have participated in poll. The purpose of the study was to determine the peculiarities of adaptation of foreign students to the conditions of study in Eastern Anatolia of Turkey. In the course of the study, stable motives influencing the decision of foreigners to study at this university were identified, namely: the quality of education, the af-fordable cost of teaching, the opportunity to study Turkish, the prospect of migration and work in Turkey, interest in Turkish culture, the geographical location of the university, and also an independent way of life. The main factors that contribute to the creation of favorable conditions for entering the educational environment and the main problem areas associated with the residence and training of foreign students in a Turkish university are identified. In the process of adaptation, students have difficulties in all spheres of activity: educational, economic, social, and linguistic.
