Abstract: The study of women's economic activity, their sectoral structure and professional composition is an essential component in the analysis of the female population development. The ratio of the number of economically active and non-active persons in the female population gives an idea of the extent of women's participation in production, demonstrates the balance between women who had an independent source of livelihood and did not have it. Given the characteristic of economic activity and professionally - sectoral structure of female population of Western Siberia in the 1920s. The territorial bounds of the investigation cover Western Siberia in the borders of present-day Altai Territory, the Altai Republic, Novosibirsk Region, Omsk Region, Kemerovo Region and Tomsk Region considering territorial-and-administrative changes, which took place in Siberia. We used the materials of the all-Union urban census of 1923, the First All-Union Census of the Soviet Union (1926) and other statistical and archival materials from the 1920s.
